Your Messages & Your Data

Data & Deletion

What happens to the messages, screenshots, and other information you send to Review the Messages — and how you can ask us to delete it.

The conversations people send to Review the Messages can be extremely personal. They may include details about an online or long-distance relationship, family concerns, money, travel, health, or other private parts of someone’s life.

We do not want to keep that information longer than we reasonably need it.

What We May Keep During a Review

While we are working on your review, we may keep the messages, screenshots, documents, intake answers, and other information you submitted so we can organize the conversation, complete the analysis, prepare your report, and communicate with you.

If you are submitting information because you are worried about a parent, child, sibling, friend, or other family member involved in an online relationship, the materials may also contain information about that person and the person they are communicating with.

How Long We Keep Submitted Materials

We keep customer-submitted materials only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, deliver the report, answer reasonable follow-up questions, handle customer-service or payment issues, prevent fraud or misuse, and meet legal or business obligations.

We do not promise that every type of information will be deleted after the same number of days. Different records may need to be kept for different periods depending on why they are being retained.

You Can Ask Us to Delete Your Submitted Materials

You may ask us to delete messages, screenshots, documents, or other materials associated with your review by emailing help@reviewthemessages.com.

We may need to confirm that the request is coming from the person who purchased or submitted the review before deleting information.

If you request deletion while your review is still being completed, we may no longer have enough information to finish the service.

Some Information May Need to Be Kept

Deleting your uploaded conversation does not necessarily mean every record connected to your purchase disappears immediately.

We may need to keep limited information such as payment records, transaction details, customer-service communications, fraud-prevention records, or documentation showing that a service was provided.

We may also keep information when required by law or when reasonably necessary to address a payment dispute, chargeback, legal claim, or misuse of the service.

Third-Party Service Providers

We use outside companies to help operate Review the Messages. These may include website hosting, payment processing, secure file intake and storage, email, communications, and technology used to assist with organizing or analyzing message histories.

Our website is hosted through Hostinger, and payments are processed through Stripe. Other providers may be used for secure uploads, storage, communications, or analysis as the service develops.

When we delete information from our active systems, limited copies may remain temporarily in backups or third-party systems according to their technical, security, or legal retention practices.

Your Completed Report

We recommend that you save your own copy of the final report after you receive it.

Review the Messages does not guarantee that your report, original message history, screenshots, or other submitted materials will remain available indefinitely.

Please Don’t Send Information We Don’t Need

We can usually review an online relationship conversation without highly sensitive identifying information.

Please do not submit passwords, Social Security numbers, complete credit card numbers, full bank-account numbers, authentication codes, or other sensitive information that is not necessary for the review.

What Happens After a Deletion Request

Once we receive a valid deletion request, we will review what information is associated with the request and remove information that we no longer reasonably need to retain.

If certain records need to be kept for legal, accounting, fraud-prevention, payment, or dispute purposes, we may retain those limited records while deleting the message history and other materials that are no longer needed.
